Are you looking for the best powder? We find the lines for it. Do you like descents of up to 2000hm? Then we’ll show you the impressive Big Five.

  • The meeting point is 08:15 a.m. at the valley station of the Engelberg-Titlis mountain railways.

  • With reservation daily from mid-December to the end of March.

Engelberg is the freeride mecca of Switzerland and shines with many impressive lines. The Big Five are the best-known variants, which are characterized by their extraordinary lengh, the alpine ambiance and the steep couloirs. Because of its geographical location, the are with Nordstau situation often receivs fresh snow. In the monts of December to the end of March you can often find the best powder snow here. The wilde, open slops invite you to surf and enjoy. If you prefer it steeper, the wild couloirs are the best choice. Added to this is the large capacity of the mountain railways, wich quickly take freeriders to ther desired starting points. If it’s been a few days since snowfall, the area scores with its exciting freetouring opportunities such as the Titlis circular tour.

The mighty foliage can be clearly seen from the village of Engelberg and is very impressive. Certainly one of the really big runs and the epitome of freeriding in Engelberg.

  • Steepness: sustained 30 bis 40+ degrees

Steinberg

Open at the top, playful at the bottom

The Titlis Rotair takes you easily to Klein Titlis, where the various slopes on Steinberg begin. Most of the time with tourists from diffrent nations. As soon as you leave the top of Titlis and the slopes, the freeriders are among themselves. The firs section of the Steinberg offers open slopes that invite you to enjoy surfing. The freeride lines run right through the impressive glacier escarpments. The lower part offers playful terrain with many interesting variations.

Sulz

playful, varied

The Sulz can be divided into three different runs; the small, medium and large Sulz. The first offers ideal terrain for freeride beginners, it is not very steep and reatively short. The middle Sulz impresses with its varied terrain and numerous smaller variants through gullies, hollows and over waves. The large Sulz offers generous slopes and ultimately comes together with the descent from Steinberg.

Steintal

hidden, quiet

The Steintal is somewhat hidden behind the Jochstock. The rather quiet corner offers a beatiful descent with a direct line through a valley almost to Lake Engstlen. If you traverse or climb west towerds Wendenlücke, the freerider will find terrain that is still untracked, even a few days after the snowfall.

Galtiberg

the royal descent

The Galtiberg is th queen of Engelberg’s Big Five; wild, alpine famous and long. With an altitude difference of two thousend meters fom Klein Titilis down two Engelberg, it is one of the longest freeride runs in the alps. All variants start with the mighty slopes of Galtiberg glacier. The most direct line follows the prominent ditch system. The most frequently chosen route traverses under the imposing rocks of the Titlis north face at an altidude of around 2200m

Booking & Price

Freeride Engelberg can be booked daily from mid-December to the end of March.

1 option group: You can reserve your desired date in the form and will receive an email when the group is complete. Costs CHF 179.- per person & day, max. 5 people.

2 option private: You can choose both the date an the daily routine yourself. Advantage: you can freeride with your friends. Costs CHF 650.- per day.
